  6. Cochem’s Castle is 300 feet above the Moselle river.
  7. If you climb to the castle, you get a stunning view of the town and the Moselle Valley.
  8. Dogs are allowed on the guided tour.
  9. The castle guided tour costs 7€ (adults).
  10. The castle is closed during Christmas.

How to get to Cochem?

  1. Take a train to Koblenz: the cost of the ticket will vary depending on where you take the train. In my case, I took a train from Strasbourg, France to Koblenz for 29€.
  2. Take a train from Koblenz to Cochem.

1. Visit the Reichsburg Castle

You can visit the castle for 7€ and get this amazing view!

2. Visit Cochem’s downtown (Altstadt)

The town is filled with half-timbered houses, local shops and to my surprise quite an important number of Italian restaurants. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend you to grab something to eat at the Altstadt. There are various restaurants with terraces and you can get this amazing view. If you are lucky, you can even make a new friend like I did (look at the photo below).

3. Visit de Bundesbank Bunker

I found out that there is a bunker in Cochem, Germany right after my trip to Cochem. Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to go there, but I would have liked it.

4. Walk around the Moselle Promenade

Walking along the Moselle river is a MOST. You will see the most amazing view and get to admire the beauty of Cochem.

5. Go to the Hängeseilbrücke Geierlay

The Hängeseilbrücke Geierlay is 1h away from Cochem, Germany. In order to get there, you will need to take a train from Cochem to Tries-Karden. Then a bus from Tries-Karden to Mösdorf. And finally, walk 1.5 kilometers till you get to the bridge. The view is AMAZING! You should definitely go there.
